I should reference the band names in the post titles

If I did that it would make my life so much easier since I wouldn't be constantly scrolling through the post list trying to figure out what I've put up and what I haven't yet.

I guess I'm still not doing that.

Here's Air Miami

Air Miami (1994)

On Teenbeat. Features Teenbeat mastermind Mark Robinson and Bridget Cross both late of the rather unjustly overlooked Unrest (who I'm always surprised have not been rediscovered by hipsters and made famous.) These are pop songs. You may enjoy them.

Danse Society (1981)

Second single by Danse Society. The Discogs descriptor for it is "goth rock". I'm not necessarily going to dispute that. The sleeve alone already makes their intentions clear.

A Bonus for the Week

Simply because I can.

So I will.

Google that shit if you need a backstory.

Solo single on Merge by a guy in many good New Zealand bands.

A bit of a mystery to me. But good enough that I added more of the rest of their catalog to my wantlist on Discogs if that means anything too you

Provacative Titles Grab the Attention of Potential Consumers

DQE is short for Dairy Queen Empire. It's pretty obvious that actual Dairy Queen probably wouldn't much to do with this duo that they shortened it much like KFC did when the state trademarked the name of Kentucky and tried to make businesses license its use.

It's very difficult to pass by a record with that as a title. I couldn't. You may not either.

Getting a bit folkier but still quite rough around the edges. You could play this one for your mother.

Bowling Balls II

It's a compilation. It's Akron, Ohio ca. 1981.

It's chock full of the good shit.

Some of the usual suspects are here. Tin Huey, the Bizarros. The two women from Chi-Pig. The Waitresses sounding very unlike what you think the Waitresses sound like. There's even a band from Japan for some reason. It's a good listen all the way through. It works fine with a track thrown into a shuffle playlist. It was NOS Clone Records and this was the very first time it was played, so if you're creepy like that you can just listen to this record lose its virginity if that's what you're into,

It's what I've got going for you today. Enjoy it motherfucker.

Easily Amused

I may have made an error in the tags for this one. Correct it if you feel the need.

Avant-pop or something. It's artsy shit from Chicago anyway. Obscure as fuck and entirely enjoyable for those who like that sort of thing. I do, at least.
I'm also amused that one of the cover images for it on Discogs is my exact copy with the radio station writing on it. I didn't take the photo. It was there before I bought the thing. Life is funny that way.

Have we done Arizona yet? This one is from Arizona and will have to do until we get to JFA or Sun City Girls in the distant future.

It's the 13th again

For no other reason than I feel like it I'm going to post more Hula Hoop on the 13th of each month for the next few months. It will keep me off the streets.

You can use that information to either eagerly click your way to this place or skip a day or two of frantic checking to see if anything new has been posted.

China

I'm reasonably sure that Chinas Comidas is spanish for Chinese food. This is a poet fronting a New/No Wave band on one side and with some other kind of improv jazzy background on the other.
It's Beat poetry with fewer berets.

Zero berets. You'd probably have gotten your ass kicked for wearing one.
Punk rock rules.

Would you like Bill sperm with that?

You need some more punk rock in your life.

Fat ep (1981)

I know that it's probably unnecessary  for me to post this since it's collected with a bunch of other crap on compact discs that you may already have in pristine sound without crackles. But fuck it. I wanted to play it today. I did. "I Like Food" & "Weinerschnitzel" are still hilarious.

Gun Control (1983)

From the gritty streets of East St. Paul in Minnesota came Civil Defense. The drummer was briefly a roommate of mine. He was quite enamored of the Only Ones and mostly hid in his room to escape the increasing lunacy of our other roommate, Stephanie. I hid in my room too. She was pretty batshit.

New Year's Day and my 100th Post

So now, it's the start of 2016. A fresh slate and time for, if I've counted this correctly, the 100th post here on the Swinging Singles Club.

I should really get make this something special and personal. I should really go to town. I should make it a party and an event.

Instead I'm posting the Delinquents.

I have to wonder if they ever got sick of people comparing them to the B-52's. They don't actually sound anything like them at all, but they were a contemporary New Wave band with a penchant for bright colors and songs about weird parties on beaches.
I'll leave it to your discerning ear to decide which is better, the single or Lp version of "Alien Beach Party". I already have my opinion.

So Called Dangerous

It's New Year's eve.

I'm probably working.

Be careful out there.

It can be pretty dangerous.

 Dangerous Birds (1982)

From Boston. Most memorably for me, they opened up for Mission of Burma for the all ages show of their "farewell" shows at the Bradford Ballroom.
"Alpha Romeo" is an all time favorite pop song.

Dangerous Girls (1980)

Their third single. I only came across this fairly recently. Last couple of years anyway. But I'm pretty sure that if I'd found it when it came out that I would have played the ever loving shit out of it.

Special Bonus one sided dangerousness.

After a rather forgettable fairly straight novelty single Danger Roads pumped out this ditty in 1979 on  Break'er Records in Minneapolis.   It's still a novelty tune, but it's good one at least.
