Wishing Well (1993)

The various bios I skimmed say that they eventually moved to NYC, but for our purposes, we'll just label this harder rockin' female fronted quartet as a New Hampshire band.

What makes this single entirely worth the hard earned dollar I spent on it is the b side "Narrow Canal" which is a sad tale of big dick problems from the woman's point of view.

Not necessarily having experienced this as an issue from either side, I must live vicariously through song.

Bats (1995)

Mid-90s. Seven inch single. Dame Darcy illustration. Seems about right. It's a perfect snapshot of the time and what it sounded and looked like in certain corners of the musicsphere. 

This is the second single that preceded two full lengths I haven't pulled the trigger on. They're on the list, but merely await copies that can be bundled with other purchases to maximize shipping. Let that be your guide.

1992

1992 was a year in the final decade of the 20th Century.

It was an Ok year, I suppose, as years go.

I mean, I had my issues with it, 

but I think most people who lived through it 

aren't harboring a deep seated calendar based resentment towards it as a whole.

It was simply a year that was.

And the year that produced these two records.

Fruit (1992)

Hey guys, you, uh, named your band "Fruit". That's kind of a terrible name if you want people to be able to look you up on the internet. It's at least on Sunday Records so I knew it was the sweet indiepop. But seriously. Fruit? That was the best you could come up with?

Bulldozer Crash (1992)

Your labelmates Bulldozer Crash had a better idea. Plop Bulldozer Crash into Google and you get plenty of links. Plus as a name it works ironically if you make quiet pop music.

Good job there, Bulldozer Crash.

Filling In

So I have another big discography project planned for Spring so I'm kind of back filling the posts until I can start that in earnest. How that will go over will remain to be seen, but I like it and this is my thing, so fuck it.

That said, I have a few random bits that don't go anywhere else to cobble together into coherence.

Big Black Truck (1978)

Peter Holsapple was part of the dBs. They were one of those bands that were Ok on record, but fucking mind blowing live. At least the couple of times I caught the at the Rat in Boston back in the 80's. This is a pre-dB solo single. There is a song on it entitled "96 Second Blowout" which should not be confused with the 10 seconds humbler "86 Second Blowout" by Yo La Tengo on their "May I Sing With Me" cd, but I don't doubt that Ira Kaplan and I have a lot of crossover in our respective record collections.

Apple of my Eye (1965)

Roy Head and the Traits were from San Antonio in the state of Texas. They had some success later on with a tune called "Treat Her Right" a bit later in the same year as this one. It's pretty decent garage R&B. I don't really have much more to say about it besides I don't regret the two dollars I spent on it.
