The In Between

So when this posts will be the day I that Robyn Hitchcock comes back to Minneapolis.

I have a ticket and I'm looking forward to it. I've seen the guy probably 30+ times since the middle of the 1980s (around "Fegmania", if I remember correctly)

If I'm lucky, I may have a chance to chat with him a bit again. He's been like this ongoing acquaintance for the last thirty years who has absolutely no memory of ever encountering me before in his life. It's actually kind of funny to imagine and even funnier when I consider that he's probably one of the longest running acquaintances I have in my entire life.

He added a second show as well the next night and although I'm very tempted to go. (He always plays a very different set on consecutive nights in the same place), but another friend's band, Annie & the Bang Bang, is playing as well and I haven't had a chance in too long to see them.
Plus I get to feel like a bon vivant flitting about on sequential nights for the rock and roll.

Anyhoo...

Practical Footwear (1998)

Sodastream

This falls into that nebulous area where it's labelled as an Elongated Player, but there's seven songs and it's a solid half an hour which would qualify as a feature length in another time.

Other than that, I'll just cut and paste the profile from Discogs:

"Sodastream is an Australian duo of Pete Cohen and Karl Smith, who produce songs from lo-fi to melancholic pop. They formed in 1997, ceased the project in 2007, and returned in 2013."

Another Follow Up

 I'm hungry.

Gonna make two quickies and have a snack.

Counter Clockwise (1997)

A while back I put up a few stray singles by Melbourne, Australia's Autohaze.

Here's their third full length. I suppose as I get around to filling in the rest of the discography I'll follow up this post up later on.

But for now. Be content with the Pop and the Rock in equal measures.

Maybe cough up a buck or two on their bandcamp so somebody can get a cup of coffee.

It's the polite thing to do.

Surprise Surprise Surprise.

Yes Virginia, there is a lot of records to be posted...

Let's go back Down Under, shall we?

Seaside Compilation (1991)

Here's that vaguely hinted at compilation 7" in the previous post and the only remaining Moles song from their original Australian Seaside output along with a couple of skull splitters from aptly named fellow Sydney bands Headache and Brokenhead.

I do not in the slightest regret shelling out fifty cents for this. It only makes me love it more

Say...as long as we're in the area let's travel forward in time and 909 km SW to see what's up in Melbourne

Melbourne Holiday (1998)

I won't type the tracklist out because it's easily visible in the pictures.

Cat's Miaow stuff was previously posted in 2015. Super Falling Star (who will appear here probably years from now if I keep this up at this pace.) do a version of  "Love is Blue" originally a mellow instrumental tune made famous by Paul Mauriat & his Orchestra in 1968.

Soak in it.

Following Up

A quick post of things by previously posted bands.

Just singles.
No BS

Search up the other posts if you're curious.
I may or may not have more info.

Probably not.
I get lazier as time rolls on.

.

Don't Blame It On Me (1982)

the Contractions.

Deep Water (1993)

Still obscure and generically named second single by Fruit.
Once again on Sunday Records, so you know what that means.
(You do don't you?)

Five Years Old (1993)

Third single by Melbourne's Girl of the World.
As good as the previous two.

A Couple More Because

I have a couple more Autohaze things I want to post. Be a nice person and visit their bandcamp page and give them some love and by love I mean money.

Dive Into the Sun (1992)

Yep. That's  one.

White Bird (1995)

And this is the other.

Going Down Under

I don't know much, but I know what I like and garlic, onions and potatoes fried in bacon fat is pretty high up there on that list. There's some of that available to me as soon as I'm done with this post.

I'll be quick about it.

 27 Air (1992)

I also like Autohaze.

They were from Melbourne, Australia. They made and alternative pop rock noise that wouldn't have been out of place on Creation or some or other similar label. (Creation did sort of release an Autohaze compilation on a subsidiary label, August Records, so I guess they weren't fully interested in committing...)

But I like it.

Hanging Around (1992)

A number of singles, a couple of full lengths and a myspace page if you're feeling 90s nostalgic and that's about all that's left except for the music.

Enjoy this little time capsule...

Girl of the World

I got nothing.

I'm going to eat some mochi.

Talk amongst yourselves for a while.

Travel ep (1992)

Girl of the World were from Australia. They made a few records.

Here are two of them.

Somebody did an interview in 2011.

I didn't actually read it myself.

I was more interested in mochi.
